Latest reviews of DioDict4 English–Korean Dict app for iPhone and iPad
Great Korean English dictionary.
Id say this dictionary is easy to use and is aesthetically pleasing, and I like that the one app works on both iPad and iPhone.. dont need to go buying both versions as they are one and the same. In terms of the actual translations, I like that it gives idioms and examples of how the word can be used. The dictionary does not appear to include profanity and some slang, but serves its purpose and is pretty complete in that sense. Id say it is a bit too exact and literal for some of the Korean-to-English translations, but thats to be expected as they are direct translations. The flashcard integration is a great learning tool and its nice that it is has a vocal trainer mode and quiz mode. Some improvements.. it needs audio for the Korean to read the words and examples for those trying to learn Korean. It would also be nice if there were sync capability between devices for flashcards and history (i.e. via some sort of online DioDict account), so that I dont have to check separate devices for words Ive saved on the iPhone vs the iPad.. or at the very least, a back-up to the iCloud for the flashcards, which it does not have right now. The lack of sync/account is a HUGE issue for me with this app and and many other dictionary apps that Ive tried that have bookmarking/saving features included, as Im not going to carry my iPad everywhere with me, and would like to be able to access my bookmarks from any device. I havent been using it long - just bought it today, so I cant say much about stability or crashing (I havent had any problems yet). All in all, good app and Im looking forward to seeing some of these features included in future updates of this app.. which Im hoping will come not too far along as this apps price is not that low =]
some words pronunsiation is not good. maybe excluding that, so its five stars
The app has alot of useful tools, however, as someone learning Korean, the absence of information such as whether a form of a word is a noun, adjective, verb, etc. is a unfortunate negative aspect.
This app is only for Koreans wanting to learn English. There is no TTS for Korean and no explanation, in English, for Korean words. I have contacted Diotek two times. Each time they tell me to re-install the app. Its just a stall, it doesnt work. So awful that Im contacting Apple (like that will help). Please dont waste your money; Ill probably never see mine again.
